Case Study: Detroit Equity Inc.

Overview

Detroit Equity Inc. (DEI) is a nonprofit committed to ensuring Detroit’s comeback is within reach of every Detroiter in every neighborhood.

Under the leadership of Founder and CEO Bishop Edgar Vann, DEI utilizes its strong commitment and connections to Detroit’s ecumenical community, neighborhood-based organizations, and community leaders to bridge the gap between Detroiters and the greater corporate community by driving awareness of job opportunities, initiatives, research, and best practices.

Strategy

Since DEI’s inception, Moment Strategies has worked closely with the nonprofit organization’s leadership to map out their long-term goals and conceptualize a master communication plan that included branding, positioning, media targeting, placement, and community building.

In support of DEI’s long term goals, led the communications strategy for two major events. First, Moment Strategies, in partnership with Vella Strategic Philanthropy,  facilitated a fundraising campaign that leveraged our network of governmental and philanthropic relationships with a robust communications campaign that drove public awareness and support across both traditional and social media channels.

Second, Moment Strategies managed all aspects of the inaugural Detroit Equity, Inc Symposium where CEO Bishop Vann presented the findings of a Kresge Foundation-funded report on the state of equity, inclusion and diversity in Detroit.

Results
